The Dangers of Using Steroids to Build Muscle

If you are considering the use of steroids to help you build muscle, you really need to stop and think about the consequences. It is true that you will be more muscular, but it won’t be long before you start realizing what those muscles actually cost you. There are many health risks that too often become a reality. Never assume that you won’t be affected by the risks associated with steroid use. Everyone who uses steroids has at least one ill effect of the drugs.

 

For both men and women who use steroids, dizziness is a common problem. Mood swings, extreme hair loss, aggression, anger, depression, vomiting, nausea, shaking, liver damage, insufficient growth, high blood pressure, muscle injuries, and aching joints are all also extremely common with steroid use. Steroids also disrupt sleep patterns, which is unhealthy.

 

In addition to these risks, there are also gender specific risks for men and women who use steroids. For instance, men and boys usually experience shrinkage of the testicles, impotence, sterility, painful urination, and they may even start to develop breasts. Women and girls, on the other hand, commonly experience growth of facial hair, shrinkage of the breasts, changes in the menstrual cycle, and may even develop more masculine traits, including deeper voices.

 

Unfortunately, these are just the problems that commonly occur. There are more serious consequences associated with steroid use as well, especially long term usage. These problems include mental issues, such as becoming delusional or experiencing intense paranoia. There is also an increased risk of developing certain types of cancer, of having heart disease, or suffering a stroke when you use steroids – and even after you stop using steroids.

 

Yes, it is true that steroids help build bigger muscles in a shorter period of time – but at what risks? Are those risks really worth it? If you suffer the consequences of steroid use, those big muscles won’t mean much or matter much. There are much safer, healthier ways to achieve the same results – just over a longer period of time.

 

True muscle building comes from weight training, strength training, and the right nutrition – which includes solid food, fluids, and of course vitamins and minerals. Proper sleep and muscle relaxation is also required. If you think that you want to take steroids to improve your endurance, again, there is a better healthier way. It’s called endurance training. In other words, there is nothing that steroids can accomplish for you that you cannot accomplish without steroids, with the exception of poor health, and possibly even death.
